Ignite is excited to announce the launch of our new website! We have been working hard to create the best possible website for our service users and our community to access what they are looking for.
With the help of some amazing people and organisations, we have been able to take our time to evaluate what is important to Ignite and how we want to showcase our services and amazing work. We have been lucky enough to work with George from Shrouded Studio to create our dream website!
But, let’s start from the beginning!
Back in 2021 Ignite applied for funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to go towards our services, projects and staff costs. We were unsuccessful with there and were lucky enough to receive feedback and support as to why we were not ready to receive this funding though our cause was worthwhile.
A member of The National Lottery team had an online meeting with us and suggested how we can strengthen our charity before we expand some of our services. One of these suggestions was to update our website and create an online space which was accessible to all, but especially accessible to the young people we are supporting.
Then, in January 2022 we applied for a different funding opportunity through The National Lottery Awards for All England to help the development and expansion of Ignite Life and … we were successful!
Straight away we started searching for the perfect person and company to work with to create the best website possible and we found George from Shrouded Studio who from day one took the time to listen to our wants and needs.
We worked together to map out all our priorities in a website and our goals. These were firstly to be accessible, which is when George produced information on the right fonts and colour schemes, headings and structure, and overall look to ensure our website could be easily accessed by people with dyslexia, visual impairments, hearing impairments and, of course, young people!
Then, George made a start on the layout and design. We talked lots about how to make the site easy for young people to access any support they may need, whether that be for themselves, friends, or families. This mainly inspired the home page of the website where you can click why you’re there so that the information is tailored especially for you.
Finally, we wanted to create a space where we could highlight the voices of the young people we support and share their stories. Ignite puts young people at the heart of all we do, and being able to share some of the stories from the young people we have supported has been a priority for us!
We just want to say a huge thank you to The National LotteryCommunity Fund for their generous donation which has meant we have been able create our dream website! Since launching, we have had more people message us through our contact form because they want to support us, volunteer for us, refer someone for counselling, and access our food bank.
Also, a huge thank you to George at Shrouded Studio for his amazingly talented work and for listening to our vision!
